What is Divisibility Rule of 5 ?

A number is divisible by 5 if the last digit of a number is either 0 or 5.

Example 1.

Is 135 is divisible by 5 or not.
Solution:
According to divisibility rule of 5,  the last digit of given number 135 is either 0 or not.
Here, given  number is 135 and it’s last digit is 5.
So, 135 is divisible by 5.

Example 2

Check if 163 is divisible by 5 or not.
Solution:
According to divisibility rule of 5 , the last digit of given number 163 is either 0 or 5 or not.
Here, given  number is 163 and it’s last digit is 3.
So, 163 is NOT divisible by 5.

Example 3

Is 24591947 is divisible by 5 ?
Solution:
According to divisibility rule of 5 ,the last digit of given number 24591947 is either 0 or 5 or not.
Here, given  number is 24591947 and it’s last digit is 7.
So, 24591947 is NOT divisible by 5.

Example 4

Fill the lowest possible digit in the blank space so that number is divisible by 5.

  1. 4569_
    Solution: As per divisibility rule of 5, any number is divisible by 5 if it’s last digit is either 0 or 5. So, we add either 0 or 5 in blank space.
    Hence, possible digit in place of _ can be 0 or 5. Here, 0 is smallest . So, correct answer is 0. Thus, number will be 45690.
