Divisibility Rule of 15 with Examples | Check Divisibility by 15

In this article, we will learn about divisibility rule of 15 with example. i.e. We will see how to check if any number is divisible by 15 or not.

What is Divisibility Rule of 15 ?

A number is divisible by 15 if the number is divisible by 3 and 5 both.

Example 1

Is 13725 divisible by 15?

Solution:

We need to check the divisibility of the number by 5 and 3 both.

As per divisibility rule of 3 – If the total sum of the digits of number is divisible by 3,  then  that number is divisible by 3.

Here, 1 + 3 + 7 + 2 + 5 =18 and 18 is divisible by 3.

So, given number, 13725 is divisible by 3.

As per divisibility rule of 5 – Any number ending with 0 and 5 is divisible by 5.

Hence, 13725 is divisible by 15 because it is divisible by 3 and 5 both.

Example 2

Check if 8506 is  divisible by 15 or not.
Solution:

We need to check the divisibility of the number by 5 and 3 both.

As per divisibility rule of 3 – If the total sum of the digits of number is divisible by 3, then that number is divisible by 3.

Here, 8 + 5 + 0 + 6 = 19 and 19 is not divisible by 3.

So, given number, 8506, is not divisible by 3.

As per divisibility rule of 5 – If any number is ending with 0 and 5, then the number is divisible by 5.
Here, 8506 is NOT neither ending with 0 nor 5. So, 8506 is NOT divisible by 5.

Since 8506 is neither divisible by 3 nor 5, it is not divisible by 15 as well.

Example 3

Is  92525 divisible by 15 ?
Solution:

We need to check the divisibility of the number by 3 and 5 both.

As per divisibility rule of 3 – If the total sum of the digits of number is divisible by 3, the number is divisible by 3.

Here, 9 + 2 + 5 + 2 + 5 = 23 and 23 is not divisible by 3.

So, given number, 92525, is NOT divisible by 15.

Example 4

Is 5806  is divisible by 15?
Solution:

We need to check the divisibility of the number by 5 and 3 both.

As per divisibility rule of 5 – If any number is ending with 0 and 5, then the number is divisible by 5.

Here, given number is not ending with 0 or 5 so this is not divisible by 5 and consequently not divisible by 15.
