Divisibility Rule of 4 with Examples | Check Divisibility by 4

In this article, we will learn about divisibility rule of 4 with example. i.e. We will see how to check if any number is divisible by 4 or not.

What is Divisibility Rule of 4 ?

A number is divisible by 4 if the last two digits of a whole number are divisible by 4.

Example 1

Check if 128 is divisible by 4 or not.
Solution:
Here, given  number is 128 and it’s last two digits are 28 which is divisible by 4 .              Last two digit of given number is divisible by 4.

So, 128 is divisible by 4.

Example 2

Check if 163 is divisible by 4 or not.
Solution:
We need to check the last two digits of given number 163  are divisible by 4 or not.
Here, given  number is 163 and it’s last two  digits  are 63 and 63 is not divisible by 4.
So, 163 is NOT divisible by 4.

Example 3

Is 24591947 is divisible by 4 ?
Solution:
We need to check the last two digits of given number 24591947 are divisible by 4  or not.
Here, given  number is 24591947 and it’s last two digit are 47 and 47 is not divisible by 4
So, 24591947 is NOT divisible by 4.

Example 4

Fill the lowest possible digit in the blank space so that number is divisible by 4.

  1. 4569_
Solution: As per divisibility rule of 4, any number is divisible by 4 if it’s last two digits are divisible by 4. So, we add either 2 or 6 in blank space.
Hence, possible digit in place of _ can be 2, 6. Here, 0 is smallest . So, correct answer is 2. Thus, number will be 45692.
  2. 875_2
Solution: As per divisibility rule of 4, any number is divisible by 4 if it’s last two digits are divisible by 4.
Here, last digit of number 875_2 is already given.
So, we can put 1 digit in place of blank space
Hence, possible digit in place of _ is 1.
    Thus, number will be 87512.
